Ooty is a hill station located in the Nilgiri Hills of the Western Ghats. The city is located in the state of Tamil Nadu, India and is situated at an altitude of 2000 meters above mean sea level. The city gets its name from its location on the eastern side of the Nilgiris. Ooty is also known as "Queen of Hill Stations" and "Kannada Kanda Udupi".

Ooty is a town in the Nilgiri Hills, Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Udhagamandalam. The town is surrounded by tea plantations and it is a popular tourist destination in South India.The area around Ooty has several forests that are home to many species of birds, mammals, reptiles and insects. The most common animals found here are monkeys, gaur (Indian bison), deer, hare and rabbits. There are also plenty of birds including peacocks, parrots, mynahs and eagles who can be seen fluttering around the trees all year round.

The beautiful hill station of Ooty is a favorite destination for tourists from all over the world. The town is believed to have been established by the British in 1821, when Lord Wellington’s army camped here during a campaign against Tipu Sultan. The town was later named after an Englishman named Obadiah Oldfield, who was given the task of finding a suitable place for the camp.
